Well he didn’t and I love Darth dearly, and our child Aurelia, having the implant was essential, I had no choice, I am the last of the Saegilda, if you had made contact before now, maybe things would have been different *I sense that for some reason the Priestess is almost playing games with me, maybe testing me, she is after all the only Saegilda I have met, I realise I know very little of what my people are really like*

*not entirely convinced by what the Priestess said about only being here for training, for now I have little choice if I am to truly understand my Saegilda powers, so as instructed I relax and start to focus my mind straight ahead as I feel the Priestess’ power starting to connect with mine. At first I’m not sure what scene I am supposed to be looking at, but slowly two figures start to appear and gradually take form, a young man and a woman, holding hands…in an instant I realise who they are and despite the warning, I cannot stop myself reacting* Mother…father…*suddenly there is a blinding flash of light and a pain in my mind so excrutiating that I scream out loud and temporarily black out, as I open my eyes, the Priestess is stood in front of me, her once sparkling violet eyes a deep jet black*

I warned you Elizabeth not to lose focus, that was a mild shock you received, you are no longer a child it is time you learned some discipline, being Saegilda carries great responsibilities, you will soon have immense power at your disposal and you have to learn how to deal with it…or it will tear you apart, do I make myself quite clear?

*I look down at the ground, thoroughly ashamed of myself* my profuse apologies Priestess Rhianu, I promise it will not happen again, it was just seeing my parents…I… *tears start running down my cheeks* I feel so lost and alone, my parents died over 200 years ago, and seeing them before me, wanting to hold them…*I wipe my tears away and look up at the Priestess, as her black eyes slowly turn back to violet*

*although it is not normal protocol, I wrap my arms around Elizabeth and hold her tightly* maybe I should have warned you what to expect, but you will witness far worse before your training is over, I am sorry that even with the powers I have, I cannot summon your parents here, I shall give you a moment to compose yourself, then it is imperative that we carry on with your training *Letting Elizabeth go, I turn and walk over to the High Priestess*

*I take a deep breath as the Priestess walks away, I sense she is having a conversation with the High Priestess, though I can hear neither of them speaking, I wonder what other scenes I am going to have to witness as part of my training and how painful it is going to be, I look up as the Priestess returns and sits beside me again*

The High Priestess has instructed me to concentrate on bringing your mind under control, your reaction to your parents quite clearly displayed your inability to control your thoughts and emotions, it is essential to control both if you are to handle your power, if you had been raised amongst Saegilda you would have witnessed many things and know what to expect, so it is my duty to show you. I know we’re a deeply spiritual race who have the ability to manipulate our Auric field, and initially our intentions were purely peaceful…until the government here on Kaleda IV started persecuting the Saegilda out of fear of the power we possess *something suddenly dawns on me as I look around the building we are in, it is a ruin and very overgrown, this had escaped my attention at first, I turn to the Priestess* You say we’re on Kaleda IV, but at what point in time, this place is obviously a ruin…so are we actually in the present day, my present day?

Very observant Elizabeth, and yes it is the present day, but as I explained earlier, we have suspended time so you wont be missing for long, barely any time will pass at all, depending on the outcome of your training, so I suggest we get started without any further delay. As you have never witnessed another Saegilda controlling their Auric field, I shall give you a demonstration, it will make it easier for you to visualise in your mind what is expected of you *before Elizabeth can ask any further questions, I walk over to the centre of the building and turn to face her* now watch closely

*I get the feeling that the Priestess keeps avoiding my questions, but as she is the only Saegilda I have ever encountered, I have to assume for now that evasiveness is part of our nature. Watching the Priestess closely, I sense her start to increase her energy, slowly her body is encased in a bright bluish white light, it is quite an awesome sight, I hadn’t realised the Auric field would be so visible, as the Priestess extend her Auric field outwards, I can sense the power increasing, there is an audible crackling and hissing sound and I start to feel increasingly nervous, for the first time I realise why people feared the Saegilda, no visible weapon, just the sheer power of our minds. As the edge of the Priestess’ Auric field gets closer, I instinctively jump to my feet to get out of the way, but I am just seconds too late, the force of the Priestess’ energy hits me like a bolt of lightning and I’m sent flying backwards, fortunately I land on the grass, not one of the many boulders lying around, slowly I get to my feet as the Priestess withdraws her Auric field and walks over to me*

Why the nervous reaction? That was the very basic level of Auric manipulation, parents teach their children that when they are very young in preparation for their DNA activation, surely your parents taught you at least that level?

*I glare at the Priestess as I sense she is taunting me and I am more than determined to prove just what I am capable of, without bothering to reply I go and stand in the centre of the ruins facing her and clearing my mind, start to focus on my energy. Creating my Auric field around me I slowly start to expand its range as I increase my power, then I unleash a surge of energy completely destroying the chair and a pile of stones next to the Priestess, then I withdraw my Auric field and smile at her* As you can see, my abilities are not that bad…for a trainee…satisfied now?

*I walk over and stand defiantly in front of the Priestess and stare into her eyes* I already consider myself Saegilda, I don’t need your blessing or anyone elses, and I shall ask my husband to help with any further training I need, all this is quite pointless, I realise the only thing that has been holding me back from fulfilling my potential is fear, well let me make it quite clear, I am no longer afraid of my powers or what they can do, I am ready to face my destiny. Wait a moment, what do you mean ‘protect your interests’? *before I get a reply, I find myself back in the garden at the fortress, it takes me a moment to compose myself, as the Priestess said, I sense I have barely been gone any time at all, I get to my feet still wondering what the Priestess meant by ‘we have to protect our interests’, as I turn to go inside, I see a black cloak neatly folded on the ground, and some sort of amulet, putting them on I feel empowered, more in control and stronger than before, smiling to myself I say out loud* I am Saegilda
