Macrame Work Board

On Saturday morning I ordered 2 Macrame Work Boards from The Bead Shop Scotland. Being Christmas I never expected to receive it for a few days. Yet first thing this morning the boards arrived, to say I’m surprised is an understatement.

And why did I order 2? One for me and one for Chris of course, we’re planning world domination by Macrame! I’ve already done a piece of macrame and managed to stick one of the T-pins in my finger, a pack of 6 are included with the board. Chris is now planning his first project and looking at the board quite bemused, he’s still at the pinning the top string stage…world domination may be on hold for a while!!

Hemp & Beads Macrame Bracelet

Just a small test piece to experiment with using hemp. It’s bracelet size in case you’re wondering!

Simple Flutterby

I needed something a little easier than the corsage, just a simple design to amuse me. And here is a little seed bead butterfly, only a few centimetres across.

Any old iron

My efforts in collage are going, as you can see, from strength to strength. (Tsk tsk. Anyone muttering ‘from bad to worse, more like’ should feel thoroughly ashamed. Clearly, such people do not understand art.)

This piece is called ‘Any old iron’. Iron is referenced in three different ways: firstly by part of the periodic table; secondly by the steam iron; and thirdly — and this is something that might be noticed only by those with truly artistic sensibilities — by the playful use of materials, viz. a scrunched and flattened portion of aluminum foil, which gives this work a more tactile texture and alludes to the act of ironing, i.e., pressing clothes. The question is, will that pink iron ever manage to smooth out the rough surface of the foil, or are my collage creases destined to become permanent?

Seed Bead Floral Corsage

Having spent days fighting with seed beads that did not want to be tamed, this morning I finished this corsage I started last night.

It’s approximately 9cm diameter and should be attached to a brooch backing for wearing. However, I’m going to find a glass stem vase and display it proudly in our china cabinet.

Beading Aida

I still have heaps of Aida fabric left over from my days spent cross stitching, it might be something I pick up doing again. So many crafts, so little time!

This is a little piece I made last night to amuse myself :)
