Stuffed and mounted bear’s head

It’s not what you think!

This is a knitted bear’s head mounted to hang on the wall. I know it would have been easier to rip the head off a bear and mount it, but I’m not that cruel. Especially when we have a tribe of bears upstairs that might take revenge!

I’m thinking of doing another version with a less complicated head so I can knit more of them and personalise them for sale. This one took several days to complete, and thinking of how to mount it took almost as long again! In the end the head I mounted the head on art card covered with felt and sewn to a thin piece of wood that was also covered in felt. This enables fittings to be fixed safely to the wood for hanging; using card is also easier for making the neck hole than drilling through wood…and have you ever tried sewing onto a piece of wood?!

Knitting under the microscope!

Wandering around the internet I came across this cute Needle & Wool Knitters Brooch.

At the time I was in the middle of some knitting using DPN’s and wondered if I could use cocktail sticks to knit in the round. Well it was a bit fiddly and the cocktail sticks a bit sharp, but here’s some I did earlier!

I’ve taken the picture with an 8mm DPN, a 4mm DPN and a 2.75mm DPN for comparison :)

Rainbow pouch

I’ve had this yarn for a while and finally found something worthy of being knitted with it!

This little pouch, measuring 6″ x 3″, has a cord to hang it around your neck or tie it to a bag, or just hang it on the wall! It could be used for putting spectacles/spectacles case in or a mobile phone.

I finished it off with tassels to complete the funky effect!
