Gothic Towers Wall Hanging

I took inspiration for this from one of our macrame books, a love of architecture and Ptolemy Dean our favourite architect.

It measures 30cm across and 50cm in length and I used natural and black jute. It may only be a small piece, but it took a surprisingly long time to complete, there is more to macrame than simply tying a knot!

3D Macrame

More experiments using cotton thread…I was starting to get friction burns from the rough string! And of course being 3D, I had to take 3 pictures.

Macrame Flat Knots Circle Variation

I’ve been experimenting with a few knot variations, even though this is done in plain rough string, it’s still impressive.

Cavandoli Bookmark

I based this piece on the Greek Key pattern and used cotton yarn and wool.

Mind’s Eye

This was a design that evolved as I worked on it. Once I’d set the ring with the bead inside at the top, I knew the piece would be called Mind’s Eye. I wasn’t anticipating it to take on a the shape it has, depending on your perspective, a Goddess or a Hula Hula dancer!

Abacus Macrame Bracelet

Made using cotton thread and wooden beads, I think it’s obvious why I called it an Abacus Bracelet!
