Bobble Tree

The top of this hanging is made with Square Knot Loops which create the bobble effect. Usually they’re done with only a few Square Knots to make a bead effect, but you can make the sinnet as long as you desire before turning it back on itself to create the loop.

From top to bottom measures 45cm and I used jute and an indian bell.

Itteh Bitteh Earrings

Sometimes I just don’t want to do large macrame pieces, so today I opted for something small. These are made from cotton with wooden beads. And from the title you might realise I’m addicted to lolcats! A bigger picture is just a click away.

Bamboo Freeform Wind Chime

Using red jute for a change, the inspiration for this design came from one of our macrame booklets. I find it easier to look at a picture and create my own design from it rather than try and follow a pattern.

It is 58cm in length, with an indian bell and numerous macrame beads all hung on a bamboo ring. Click on the picture for a larger image.

Oriental Wind Chime

This was one of those projects that I put off starting for days. I only needed to measure 6 lengths of jute to be used doubled over giving me 12 cords. But…and it’s a big BUT…each cord had to be 17½ yards long!

Sat there surrounded by so much jute, I knew how a fly felt trapped in a spiders web. My usual method of leaving the cords was not going to work, so each one was tied up into a butterfly with an elastic band. I referred to them as my puppies because they kept leaping about all over the place.

The finished Wind Chime was well worth the struggle. It is 72cm in length from the top of the hook to the bottom of the longest bell. The bells themselves are Indian and the beads are traditional wooden macrame beads.

My intention was to put this up for sale straightaway, but I’m going to keep it for a bit longer to admire it before I give someone else the pleasure of hanging it in their home :)

Cottontail Hanging

Made from cotton and using a combination of bead knots, flat knots, daisy pattern, cording and banister bars. It is 37cm in length, 10cm wide. Click on image for larger picture.

Tribal Figure

I found a new technique for making a berry knot and it seemed a waste just to put it to one side as a sample piece. So I turned it into this little Tribal Figure. I think it could possibly be a fertility symbol, certainly a good luck charm :)
