This is a pattern called Weaved Hotpad by Kimberly Langlois. I enjoyed the intricacy of this design

Natural Weave Hotpad

It’s a string thang!
Take some parcel string, just the usual cotton variety, and a crochet hook and you might end up with this! I started with a chain, then worked HDC if you’re in the US or HTR if you’re in the UK, all round for the base. Then worked up the sides in DC (US) / TR (UK). All the different crochet terms drive me nuts!!
That is Minty our pet (toy!) sheep sitting amongst some Twilleys freedom spirit wool, he’ll turn into wool if he stays there too long!!
Teddy Blanket
And just in case you think I only make things for AM, think again! This is our dearly loved bear Fosbury, named after Dick Fosbury because he’s floppy…Fosbury not Dick…oh my that sounds worse!
Back to the blanket…I crocheted this from the American Square pattern and just kept going beyond the average motif square size. And as you can see from the photo, Fosbury also has his own chair and sits at the bottom of our bed, snuggled up with his blanket!
