Beaded Macrame Bracelet

I’ve had this huge ball of rough string kicking around for a while…and it’s years since I’ve done any macrame. So I did a few macrame knots added some beads and made this little bracelet. I’m planning to get some hemp and some more big beads to make some more, I’d forgotten how relaxing macrame can be. And it’s quite ironic that I usually work with thread which I fight with to stop from knotting, and then go and deliberately knot with macrame. Sounded funnier in my head than it did in print!

Wire Beaded Fish Pendant

Now I’ve really been experimenting! The inspiration for this came from a book by Mickey Baskett called Wonderful Wire Works. I took several ideas from the book and with a bit of devious twisting, made this pendant.

Victorian Beaded Cross

I created the shape for this one out of plastic canvas, quite fiddly to cut round, but the finished result was well worth it.

Square Bead Sample

Another beading adventure, it wasn’t easy trying to get all the beads to line up. And I really must try and get some more colourful beads!

ETA: My dear friend Donna pointed out that I’d not mentioned the size of the square…so for Donna (and I guess everyone else!), the size is 4cm x 4cm, I’m sure you can work that out in english!!

Adventures in Beading

I wanted to try weaving with beads, didn’t really have a clear idea what design to do, so I just muddled through this piece when suddenly I had a light bulb moment. As I’d worked through the rows it looked like a top, so I added some long beaded tassels. Then the light bulb got brighter…why not use a paper doll template to hang it on.

As usual I didn’t stop there, I added some lace and snipped the bottom to make it free standing. I had to stop myself there otherwise I’d have gone over the top!
