“That back corner of our garden is looking tatty,” I said. Shana agreed something had to be done about it. First we cleared the assorted builder’s rubble. (Does that mean rubble from assorted builders? Who knows? Who cares even?) Then this morning we started putting some of the concrete slabs back, only in a more orderly fashion this time.
We hadn’t even left the house, though, before I noticed we’d gathered an extra member for our work crew: one of the local moggies. Sadly, we couldn’t allow him to join in the fun on this occasion. Why not? Surely it’s obvious, isn’t it? He wasn’t wearing a hard hat!
After digging up several tree roots we eventually managed to get a few paving slabs down and reasonably level. A lot of them were already broken, so we had to search around for those with good enough straight edges. We’ll probably swap some round yet; I have my eye on some bigger ones further along the edge of our weed beds. A large quantity of broken slabs might be ok for crazy paving, but who ever heard of a crazy patio?
The bricks, most of which are unfrogged, will go along the rear edge, along the bottom of the wall, when the rest of our haphazard picnic terrace is finished. Watch this crazy space for more action pics in due course.

Like the new blog. Looking forward to seeing more pics, looks like it’s going to be really nice when you’re finished.
