Oriental Wind Chime

This was one of those projects that I put off starting for days. I only needed to measure 6 lengths of jute to be used doubled over giving me 12 cords. But…and it’s a big BUT…each cord had to be 17½ yards long!

Sat there surrounded by so much jute, I knew how a fly felt trapped in a spiders web. My usual method of leaving the cords was not going to work, so each one was tied up into a butterfly with an elastic band. I referred to them as my puppies because they kept leaping about all over the place.

The finished Wind Chime was well worth the struggle. It is 72cm in length from the top of the hook to the bottom of the longest bell. The bells themselves are Indian and the beads are traditional wooden macrame beads.

My intention was to put this up for sale straightaway, but I’m going to keep it for a bit longer to admire it before I give someone else the pleasure of hanging it in their home :)
